PSEUDOBOMBAX ELLIPTICUM ‘ALBA’
As I walked along the lotus pond watching a water hen hop from one leaf to another, I spotted this lone flower at eye level from a small tree with just one brach swaying to the music of the wind. Spent some memorable moments capturing its beauty.
Native to Mexico, the Shaving Brush is a large deciduous tree which can grow up to 30-40 feet. Flowers have silky white stamens topped with yellow pollen. The wood is interesting as well, showing stripping of greens, yellows, browns and white. Flowering: February-March.
